What's in a name?

Rachel came up with the Stardust name. Kathy and I like it because it has an all encompassing connotation, like "we are stardust" or all things come from stardust. Once we hit the open sea, we'll see so many stars that it will appear to be stardust. Several songs come to mind, such as Stardust (Hoagy Carmichael), Stardust Memories (Willie Nelson), and Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie). Seems to us that CSN&Y also sang "we are stardust, we are golden..." Can't remember the song title. We'll keep our ears out for more songs.
Our Hunter 450 was originally owned by Dr. Kurt Mikat who named it "Meine Katze" which we're sure worked well for him. He had it in the Great Lakes for two years before moving to Florida. Then the hurricanes arrived, and he apparently lost interest in owning a boat in this area. Don't blame hime. So it sat neglected for a couple of years in the corner of a boatyard waiting for us to come along. We couldn't be happier!

Main salon dining table looking aft towards the nav station and the stairs from the cockpit. Stardust has 160 hours on the 76hp Yanmar turbo diesel, and only 60 hours on the Kohler generator. Can you say, "almost new"?

Waiting for (Godot) Raymarine

The nav station radar/chartplotter was preventing the radar from powering up, and has been sent to the factory. Stardust will remain in the Sailor's Wharf Marina until it is repaired and installed, and the radar works properly.
We are very excited to be embarking on a new adventure. It's starting to get hot here in central Florida, and there's already talk of the coming hurricane season on tv. We want to be heading up the east coast before the first one heads our way.
This photo shows Kathy and Rachel sitting at the fold-out cockpit table. Can you picture a lobster and fresh sushi between them? I can!

We Close on the Hunter 450 Passage next week!

We're down to the final details of the boat purchase. If all goes well, we close on Monday, May 1. If the final work is complete, we'll move Stardust to it's temporary home at the Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto, FL. This will allow easy access into the Gulf from the Manatee River, and also give us easy access from Clermont.
